Setting Up Your Hyphae Controller
Estimated time: ~10 minutes
Step 1 — Power Up
Connect Hyphae power cord to a UPS/Surge Protector/Outlet that supports 15 amps or more, and turn on the switch.
Step 2 — Connect to Hyphae's WiFi
On your phone or laptop, join the WiFi network:
- Network: Myco-Monitor: Hyphae
- Password: hyphaectl
Step 3 — Open the Setup Page
Navigate to https://192.168.4.1 in your browser. Accept the security certificate when prompted. Your device's mDNS name (e.g., hyphae-0117) will be displayed on the setup page — write this down, you'll need it to access your device after setup.
Step 4 — Network Configuration
| Device Name | Give it a descriptive name |
| WiFi Network | Enter your home/farm WiFi name and password |
| Timezone | Select your region |
| Reset PIN | Create a secure PIN |
Step 5 — Relay Configuration
- Name each relay channel — e.g., "Exhaust Fan", "Humidifier", "Heater", "Grow Light"
- Organize relays into groups — Group by function for easier management
- Verify amperage per group — Each group must stay under 8–9A sustained
- Test each relay — Use the test button to verify each relay clicks on and off
Step 6 — Control Mode Setup
Choose your control strategy for each relay group:
Schedule Mode
Set specific on/off times for each group. Best for lighting and regular ventilation cycles.
Dynamic Mode
Set environmental thresholds — e.g., "turn on exhaust fan when CO2 exceeds 1200 ppm." Requires at least one connected Spore sensor.
* Be sure to setup schedule mode if using dynamic mode. This will run when Spore devices are lost.
Step 7 — Add Spore Devices
Enter the IP addresses or mDNS names of your Spore sensors. Hyphae validates each connection automatically.
Step 8 — Access Your Dashboard
Open https://hyphae-NNNN.local or the device's IP address to view relay status, sensor data, and system health.
Safety Notes
- Never exceed 8–9 amps sustained per relay group
- Hyphae enforces a 4-second delay between relay activations to prevent power spikes
- If a Spore sensor goes offline, Hyphae automatically falls back to schedule mode
- Use the POWER button on the front of the device to shut off all relays instantly!
- Verify all connected equipment is rated for the relay's 10A switching capacity
