FAQ
Setup & Getting Started
- How long does setup take?
- Spore sensors take about 5 minutes. Hyphae controllers take about 10 minutes (relay configuration adds a few steps). Mycelium software installs in about 15 minutes.
- Do I need a cloud account or subscription?
- No. Myco-Monitor runs entirely on your local network. Your data stays on your devices and your computer.
- What WiFi does Myco-Monitor support?
- 2.4 GHz WiFi (802.11 b/g/n). 5 GHz networks are not supported. Most home and farm routers broadcast both — make sure you connect to the 2.4 GHz band.
- Can I use Spore without Hyphae?
- Yes. Spore works as a standalone monitor with its own web dashboard. Add a Hyphae controller later when you're ready for automated control.
- How many Spore sensors can one Hyphae controller manage?
- Up to 6 Spore devices, polled in parallel.
Connectivity & Troubleshooting
- How do I find my device on the network?
- Devices use mDNS — access them at
https://spore-NNNN.localorhttps://hyphae-NNNN.local(the hostname is shown during setup). If mDNS doesn't work on your network, check your router for the device's IP address. - Why does my browser show a security warning?
- Each device uses a unique TLS certificate from the Myco-Monitor Certificate Authority. Your browser doesn't recognize this CA by default. You can safely accept the certificate — the connection is encrypted. Alternatively, install the Myco-Monitor CA certificate on your device to suppress the warning.
- What happens if a Spore sensor loses WiFi?
- Spore caches data locally. When the Hyphae controller detects a Spore is offline, it falls back to schedule-based control automatically. Once the Spore reconnects, normal dynamic control resumes.
- What happens if power goes out?
- All devices restore their last configuration on reboot. Relays default to their safe (off) state. No configuration is lost.
Products & Hardware
- What sensors does Spore use?
- Senseair S88 for CO2 (0–10,000 ppm, ±40 ppm + 3%) and Sensirion SHT45 for temperature (±0.1°C) and humidity (±1% RH). These are commercial-grade sensors used in professional HVAC and environmental monitoring.
- How much power can each Hyphae relay handle?
- Each relay is rated for 15A AC. However, the input fuse is rated for 10A and we recommend staying under 8–9A sustained per relay group for safe long-term operation.
- Can I update the firmware?
- Yes. Both Spore and Hyphae support over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates. You can update devices individually from their web interface or push updates to your whole fleet from Mycelium.
- What's the range?
- Devices connect to your existing WiFi network, so range depends on your WiFi coverage. For large facilities, use WiFi extenders or mesh networking to ensure coverage in all grow rooms.
- How does Hyphae - Schedule Mode work?
- Schedule Mode - operates by starting with group 1, turning the associated relays on for their ON TIME. Then nothing will run for the specified amount of OFF TIME. The next group will run following the same ON/OFF time process.
- How does Hyphae - Dynamic Mode work?
- Dynamic Mode - operates by starting with the CO2 group, then humidity, then temperature. Each group is given a range of values to turn ON and OFF at, with the option to invert if needed. The group with the highest priority will operate till it turns off, allowing another group to turn on if needed.
Warranty & Returns
- What is the warranty period?
- The warranty period is 2 years from the date of purchase.
- What does the warranty cover?
- The warranty covers hardware under normal operation.
- How do I return a product?
- Initiate a warranty claim, and we'll send you a prepaid shipping label. Send us the defective item, and we'll ship the replacement once we receive it.
- Do you offer replacements for defective sensors?
- If a sensor is deemed defective under normal or extended warranty and normal operation, we will replace the device following our return process. If a sensor is deemed defective and the damage is user-caused, we will ask for the device to be returned and offer a discount on a new device based on the circumstances.
Data & Privacy
- Where is my data stored?
- All data is stored locally — on the devices themselves and in a SQLite database on the computer running Mycelium. Nothing is sent to the cloud.
- Do you collect any data?
- No. Myco-Monitor devices communicate only on your local network. We have no telemetry, analytics, or data collection of any kind.
