Why Myco-Monitor?

I've been cultivating since 2022 — the full cycle, from liquid culture through grain spawn, bulk substrate, and harvest — and went full time in 2024. Before that, several years in Duke's Division of Laboratory Animal Resources, where aseptic procedure, autoclave operation, and strict SOPs and logging were the daily standard. That's where I learned what contamination and environmental drift actually cost: a failed experiment, and the time and money behind it.

Before growing I was a data engineer at CVS Health, worked on embedded systems for Caterpillar equipment, spent five years building and tuning FPV quadcopters on STM32 flight controllers, and before any of that was a Ford- and BMW-trained, ASE-certified automotive technician. I design the Myco-Monitor boards, write the firmware, and print the enclosures myself. The dashboard is open source, and the print files will be too. See the About page for more details!

How it works:

A flowchart illustrating the relationship between sensory and control components in a biological system. It shows two spores measuring temperature, humidity, and CO₂, which send sensor data to a hyphae responsible for fans, humidifiers, heaters, and lighting. The hyphae control a mycelium that manages a dashboard, database, email alerts, production tracking, and local weather.

Spore

  • Standalone grow room sensor — tracks temperature, humidity, and CO₂ out of the box with a built-in dashboard.

  • One per tent, or a few in larger rooms for accurate sampling across the space.

Hyphae

  • Standalone controller for fans, humidifiers, heaters, and lighting — runs on built-in schedules, or switches to real-time control when paired with Spore.

  • Shares barometric pressure data with Spore so CO₂ readings stay accurate without manual calibration.

  • If sensors drop off the network, Hyphae falls back to scheduled operation automatically until the connection heals.

Mycelium

  • Open-source software that auto-discovers Spore and Hyphae on your network and runs the whole farm from one dashboard.

  • Logs every reading and relay event to a local SQLite database, and pulls in local weather so you can correlate outdoor conditions with flush quality over time.

  • Email alerts when readings drift or equipment stops responding.

  • Tracks production batches, inventory, sales, and customer records — all stored locally.

What Makes It Different

Your data stays on your network. No cloud accounts, no subscriptions for basic functionality, no data harvesting.

Local-First

Works with Your Gear

Use your existing equipment, no proprietary replacements.

Commercial Warranty

We cover our products for 2 years from the date of purchase.

If sensors and controller lose contact, scheduled timing takes over until the network recovers.
